Atherton understood England's reasons for dropping Dawid Malan, whose place has been under scrutiny due to his slowish starts, down the order from No 3 as they went in search of a quick win to boost their net run rate, but felt they may have gone too far as he failed to feature. "He gave me a good telling-off because somebody he knew had done the same thing and it was a massive realisation about how your head can play tricks on me and tell me life is not worth living, but it actually is. "I think you're going to get it [complaints] into the hundreds and thousands, possibly, and I think it's the way they handle it. We've got here because of Yorkshire's handling of this. "We know this weekend is another huge game but it's one we've prepared well for in Northampton and it's that preparation that gives us the confidence and belief that we can perform not only to the same level but hopefully even higher this weekend.
