Our deep love of individual rights, personal freedoms, and independence from the will of the state is supposed to be reflected in our ability to participate in this political tradition. I can study other things." I think that we're seeing a generation of Asian parents that are allowing their kids to do that. But a lot of people, especially in my generation, their parents are not from here. They immigrated here, they carry with them very traditional values, but a lot of those kind of values, they aren't just in families anymore. So you're seeing more Asian-Americans in music, in acting, in everywhere. It's a generational shift, and then I think as that happens, the need for representation becomes a little bit more urgent.
