Public health crises will always hit Black communities harder. These are communities that have never been lifted up — and in many cases have been intentionally knocked down by decades of systemic racism. Cities with large Black and brown populations, like Chicago, New York, and New Orleans, have seenhuge numbers to genocide, colonization, and assimilation. Millions have died, and our lands and resources have been stolen, leaving many surviving Tribes in a state of oppression and imposed poverty.
