The Gender Critical Support Board was founded in part by an anonymous internet user who goes by the name Gender Critical Dad or GCDad. Gender Critical Dad is active in gender-critical spaces on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, on his own blog, and, of course, on the comment board he founded. Gender Critical Dad’s first blog post, written in 2016, tells a story that becomes familiar after spending time in these spaces. He writes about how his daughter identified as bisexual, cut her hair, began dressing more masculine, began to wear a chest binder, then one evening came out to her parents as transgender. In GCDad’s words, “Now I’d always been a right on, lefty, Guardian reader sort of guy, supported LGB rights didn’t think anything of it when the Trans got added, but this suddenly got very scary, this was madness, this felt like I was being asked to accept something that seemed so very wrong, what had made my wonderful daughter decide on a course of self mutilation and life long [sic oakley 009382 The video — which had amassed more than 98,000 views since being posted Tuesday — looks like “they’re encouraging people to take matters into their own hands,” Jerry Gonzalez, executive director of the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials,told NPR oakley 009382 “It might be a good idea to start researching therapists so you have a go-to plan if it ever comes to that. You’ll find that a lot of people in the medical and therapy fields are affirming and that is the LAST thing you want. So cultivate a list if you can of non-affirming therapists and doctors.” oakley 009382 Some on the Support Board responded enthusiastically to the report, though other parents expressed reservations about its sourcing. “I, too, am grateful for the resource…. My concern is that the document will be easily discredited by [trans activists] because Family Policy Alliance, which apparently is not against conversion therapy and which says it is immoral to be gay, lesbian or bisexual, has attached their name to the document,” said one parent. oakley 009382
